From 13 august,1947 to 7th sept,1947 mahatma gandhi lived in this house called Hyderi Manzil which we all icall it now as gandhi bhaban & this place encoutered several other personality like the last prime minister of united bengal also lived here . In this place Mahatma Gandhi carried on a hunger strike to stop some of the protests in kolkata,and was also successfull , The protesters finally came here which we today know it as gandhi bhaban to surrender their arms and also said sorry to gandhi ji.When india was on its road to freedom on 15aug,1947 mahatma stayed here in this Hyderi Manzil which we call it today as GANDHI BHABAN
When we Dugged deep into the histroy of this hunger strike we came to know several facts .
GAndhiji almost visited kolkata 64 times in his lifetime & almost lived 566 days in his trip to kolkata.To stop all the riots in the city of dreams he started living in the Hyderi Manzil from 13th aug,1947.
On the outside wall of the museum you will find some architectural beauty deducated to some of the moments of gandhijies lifetime.30&31Jan from morning 11Am - 6PM 2023, 75th tirodhan dibas was celebrated through a photo gallery exhibation.
