What could be more comforting than chicken biriyani on a lazy day? Last day I was feeling so enthusiastic about having good food and lazy at the same time to cook up something elaborate. So going to my zomato app I started browsing through the restaurants and my eye caught this joint called New Arsalan Biriyani located in Chinar Park, Kolkata.
I am usually quite nosey about my zomato orders and first and foremost I do check the ratings for restaurant from which I will be ordering. So I did the same for this one too. It had a rating of 3.7 out of 5 which was not up to the mark for my taste. However when I went through the reviews of other customers I was pleasantly surprised. Hence I went forth and ordered for a special chicken biriyani which cost about Rs.175 with a promo code.
First and foremost I would like to talk about the quantity of the biriyani which was more than enough for one person. As you can see from the pictures, it has nearly filled up my plate to the brim even after piling up. And why wouldn’t it? That plate of biriyani consists of a great portion of aromatic rice cooked with three pieces of succulent chicken, one egg, one piece of aloo and all of the right spices. That beautiful heady aroma hits you right away as soon as you open the container, which has been packed and sealed very nicely, and makes you drool even without tasting the dish.
The chicken pieces were not too big nor too small, just perfect for me and you. The pieces were tender and perfectly spiced, not too overdramatic but just the way a kolkataian would love their chicken in the biriyani.
Nothing much to say about the boiled egg except that its size was quite good.
Coming to the aloo (one of my favourite components of biriyani), it’s one of the best aloo I have ever had. It is soft, melt in your mouth and mildly spiced and heaven in one piece. I sincerely hope that they would serve two pieces of aloo with that amount of rice and chicken, because who doesn’t love biriyani’s aloo?
Hats off to such a small biriyani joint for providing such delicious biriyani at such an affordable price. I am infact looking forward to trying out their entire menu and I hope they would not disappoint.
